A Study on the Relationship between the DAPR and the Adaptation of University Life

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to identify the relationship between DAPR(Draw A Person in the Rain) and SACQ(Student Adaptation to College Questionnaire) and to verify the reaction to DAPR and the predictive ability according to the level of SACQ. 238 college students in Chungcheongbukdo area were selected for this study through cluster sampling and DAPR and SACQ scale were applied for data collection. SACQ scale average (53.1 points) and standard deviation (10.2 points) were calculated and the upper group(32 persons) and the lower group(32 persons) were selected based on ¡¾ 1 SD. For the data analysis, correlation analysis was conducted in order to verify the relationship between DAPR and SACQ; independent sample t-test for verifying the difference between DAPR stress and scoring items of coping resources between SACQ upper group and lower group; and the discriminant analysis was conducted to verify the predictive ability between the groups. The study results showed that SACQ scale has negative relationship with DAPR stress and positive relationship with coping ability. According to the level of SACQ, 2 scoring items, "S3. Pouring rain" and "R14. Size of a figure", showed a significant difference between the groups; and 2 scoring items in DAPR showed a prediction accuracy of 60.9% in classifying the level of SACQ. These results confirmed the relationship between DAPR and SACQ and the different reaction according to the level of SACQ may suggested the possibility of using it for art therapy to provide information needed to identify SACQ level of college students.
